The Margaree Environmental Association in collaboration with Conrad Taves Design Consulting and CBCL published a feasibility study in February 2023 that described the proposed aquatic centre project and demonstrated that such a building is a feasible project for this area. They did this by considering the current aquatic options in Cape Breton, reflecting on several precedent case studies, and utilizing a similar project in Nova Scotia as a model to complete a financial and environmental study. 

In late winter 2024, the Cape Breton West Aquatic Centre Society ran a survey with the help of a student from Cape Breton University. The survey's purpose was to understand the community's perceptions and current opinion of this facility proposal. The results of that survey are posted below.
